The Plan

The Location

New FacilityWe have purchased the perfect property for our new facility in the city of Fishers.  Our new home will be located 106th & Hague Road across from Ritchey Woods. Once a church, the location sits on approximately 10 acres nestled by trees with ample room for walking trails. The property offers room for expansion and easy accessibility from both 96th Street and 106th Street.

The Design

After five years of research and planning, our dream of building a world-class animal wellness center unlike any other in the state of Indiana, and one of the best in the United States, is now a reality. Not only does our new facility address all the quality of life issues that have plagued us for so long, but it will allow for the launch of new programs that connect children, at-risk youth, seniors, veterans, and many more, with the healing power of pets.

To ensure our new facility meets both our current and future needs, we enlisted the counsel of Shelter Planners of America (SPOA), an organization that has designed and overseen the construction of over 750 animal shelters and humane societies.  SPOA conducted a study and assessment of our business and Hamilton County’s projected growth through 2035.  Beyond 2035, our new location also offers the opportunity for expansion as needed.

The Team

We are so fortunate to have a power-house team leading the charge thanks to our architect, Shawn Curran (Curran Architecture), and Meyer Najem.  With their guidance, and 5 years researching best practices of other shelters, this will be a state-of-the-art facility that serves as a destination for families and animal lovers all over Indiana.  Our facility will be one of the best in the country and a role model for other communities.

The Time Line

We launched our capital campaign, Building a Brighter Future for Hamilton County & Hoosier Animals, at our Tinsel & Tails gala in November 2018.  As we move into the public phase of the campaign, we’re thrilled to announce that we are at approximately 80% of our goal as of October 2019.  We will begin construction in March 2020 with Grand Opening plans in the first quarter of 2021.

Now we need YOU to help get us the rest of the way!
