Zelda Dawn
Oh hello there! I was just getting settled for my mid-afternoon nap, since I had just woken up after my late morning nap. Such is the life of a cat in the HSHC cattery. I am 7-years-old and have lived with my family all my life. Fun fact: I was a kitten when I transferred to the Indianapolis Humane Society, where I was adopted. So I'm a world traveler. I have always had a struggle with my weight. I recently weighed 11.4 pounds when I should be closer to 8. I am primarily white with brown Tabby markings. I'm especially fond of my bubblegum pink nose. The interviewer lady (IL) told me I was a knockout beauty queen. Blush.
I enjoyed being petted by the IL, but I didn't have much to say. I have lived with two dogs, and I'm here to tell you, cats rule, and dogs drool. I tolerate them. I also lived with kids, and I love them to pieces! We play together, and when the mood strikes, I will cuddle them. I adore sleeping with them, and I will beg for their attention. A few months ago, the family brought home another female cat, and we've been having a blast playing together. I do relish an unauthorized trip out the door to sniff around and sunbathe. My owner usually sends a dog out to retrieve me to the house. The reason my owner surrendered me to the HSHC relates to an event 3 years ago. My family went on vacation for a week and left me alone. A neighbor came to check on me once during the trip. I developed a UTI during this time. All of this stress had a traumatizing effect on my confidence, trust, and comfort. For this reason, I will need a small safe place with everything I need where I can stay until I adjust to the changes. I will need gradual introductions to the kids and pets. Giving me regular interactive play sessions with toys I can chase, pounce upon, and catch; the opportunity to find hidden treats; and cat trees I can climb, along with mental stimulation, will help meet my environmental and behavioral needs. I look forward to the day I can leave the cattery and go home with a loving family. 8-16-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
