Millie Marie
My birthday is coming up on November 13, and I will turn 4-years-old. I first became a resident of HSHC in January 2023, when I was an 8-week-old kitten. I was one of thirteen cats transferred in from Anderson. I was soon adopted and lived with this owner until he surrendered me back to the HSHC on September 5, 2026. That's a lot of dates for me to remember! I am a lovely orange-and-cream DSH female, already spayed, and I weigh 12.3 pounds. I'm including my baby picture in my interview, cause I was just so cute! My owner told the HSHC staff that I love my cat carrier and will spend time in it with the door open. Apparently, this is RARE! I am an affectionate girl who enjoys being held and petted. I used to sleep on the dad. I lived happily with two kids, aged 14 and 18. My BFF was the male hound dog. We had a blast playing together. I turn into a social butterfly when new people come to the house. I always seek their affectionate attention. If you know anything about cats, you know we despise change. During my time with this family, some BIG changes happened; for example, the daughter moved away to college. Then we moved to a new house in June. Whoa-that was too much for me to handle. At some time, my owners had my front paws declawed. OUCH!
When the HSHC examined me, they found I had a UTI. A cat with her claws and the ends of her toes cut off usually finds using the litter box very painful. I had only one litter box, and the litter was difficult to walk on. Soft, fine-grained litter, a low-entrance litter box, and possibly pain medication will help me manage this disability. When the interviewer (IL) came to talk with me, I was relaxing on top of my Kitty Kasa. But I hopped down as soon as she opened my door. I encouraged her to pet me and enjoyed all the attention. I purred and purred to show how much I liked it. Then I noticed I hadn't touched my breakfast, so I started eating while she kept petting me. Sometimes that's all it takes to get a cat to eat; we are affection-eaters. I hope my new family will understand my sore paws and how much I enjoy being sociable. 10-16-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
