Gumdrop
I was named for a sweet treat, which is ironic since cats do not taste sweetness. So I'll say it's because I am a sweet girl. I am 8-years-old, mostly white with grey and black Tabby markings. I was brought to the HSHC on July 18 by a kind man from Fishers. I had been dealing with a painful right front leg, so the medical staff treated me for the pain, for an upper respiratory infection, and for live fleas. They also made sure I was spayed, since no one had done so before. Once I was recovered, I was transferred to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC) on August 7. I am a bit shy when I first meet people, and I often lie under a round table in the big room. I did come out and rub against the interviewer lady (IL), and I let her pet me for a while. Although I have recovered from the URI and my sore leg, my blood tests revealed that I am FIV-positive. FIV is a virus found only in cats that can lower a cat's immune system. I can live a long, happy life even with FIV-negative cats with regular vet visits, a healthy diet, and an indoor-only lifestyle. I gave the IL my full attention without directly approaching her. I let her pet me for a bit before retreating to my spot on the round rug, under the round table. While lounging in place, I often wagged my tail. It is not because I was getting riled up; I seem to wag my tail whenever I feel like it. The IL complimented me on my four white feet and my white belly. I am hoping that my future owner comes into the SKCC, sees me, and decides I must go home with them! 8-25-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
