Ginger (in Foster)
Hello sweetie! If we lived in England, calling me Ginger would be an insult to red-haired people. But in America, I take it as a compliment to my warm, orange-and-white DSH coat. I am a 10-year-old female cat who was spayed long ago. Sadly, I arrived at the HSHC on August 4 with my sister Spice because our owner was moving. Spice was not happy about the move, and she was not feeling well. On September 25, Spice passed away. So even though I miss my sister very much, I know that I can go on without her. I now live in a Roaming Room with two other bonded sisters.
I'm gradually getting used to them, but I'm still hesitant to interact with them. My owner told the HSHC that I am an affectionate girl who likes to be held and petted. I let his 5-year-old grandson carry me around the house, and I just relax in his arms. I've always been an indoor cat. The HSHC medical staff found that I had a urinary tract infection, which is very painful for cats. I've been treated for this and am feeling much better now. The medical staff said that I was a nice, friendly cat, easy to handle, but sort of flighty. Yep, when I feel stressed, I like to run away and hide. If my new owners give me a small, safe spot in their home where I can retreat when I feel nervous, I will feel much better about the changes in my life. Today the interviewer lady (IL) came to visit with me, and I immediately left my cubby to approach her. But my roommates got there first, and I backed away. My roomies are confident girls, and without my sister to comfort me, I'm intimidated by their self-assurance. But I was happy to have the IL come to me and give me pets and chin rubs. I do love affectionate attention. Give me a little time, and I am sure to return to my previous loving personality. 10-6-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
