Buffington
I googled my name the other day and learned that Buffington is an English locational surname meaning "riverside settlement," originating in England. And I thought my name came from taking a look at my coat! I'm solid buff colored. I am also a stray 4-year-old DSH male, 10.9 pounds, recently neutered, found roaming around Sheridan, IN, on August 24. My medical exam revealed I had live fleas, healing scabs on my head and neck, and I tested positive for FIV. FIV is a virus found only in cats that can lower a cat's immune system. I can live a long, happy life (even with FIV-negative cats) with regular vet visits, a healthy diet, and an indoor-only lifestyle. It really is no big deal! That's what often happens when a cat is out in the world living by the seat of his pants. I admit that during my first few days here at the HSHC, I was quiet, a bit scared, but always nice. The interviewer lady (IL) found me napping under my mattress when she lifted it and let me sniff her hand. I was pleased to come out to greet her. I gladly accepted her pets on my head, neck, and down my back. I rubbed against her hand, going back and forth so she could massage both sides. I began to purr deeply. She scratched my chin, which was heavenly! Then I happened to notice my uneaten breakfast and tucked into it, all the while purring and letting her pet me. It was a very pleasant way to spend my morning, and I meowed at her when she closed the door to invite her to come again! If you like buff-colored cats with lovely personalities, you need to see me! 9-25-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
