Tj
Fun fact: If TJ is your full first name, in Dutch it means you are a "gift of God". I like the idea, even though my lifelong owner surrendered me to the HSHC on August 22. But before leaving me here, she told the HSHC staff that 9 to 10 years ago she was in a relationship with someone who abused me. I don't recall the details, but I was in pain, and my tail didn't move for a while. At some point in my life, they declawed my front paws-not my idea of a good move. I have lived with two dogs and a female cat. The dogs and I were fine. The cat was the ALPHA, and I tried to stay out of her way! I lived with two kids, aged 11 weeks and 3 years, and I was well-behaved with them. I have always done well in meeting new people, as I am a friendly guy except when it's time to go to the Vet. I just hate going to the Vet. I think the combination of life trauma, declawed paws, and fear of the resident cat has caused me a lot of stress.
My medical exam at HSHC revealed I had a UTI, tummy troubles, and some bony fragments in my paws from the declaw surgery. I've been treated for these issues and am feeling much improved. When the interviewer lady (IL) came to my cattery to talk with me, I was a bit hesitant to go up to her. I didn't know if she was going to give me a shot or some medicine. But she approached me slowly, and soon I was letting her pet my head, neck, and chin. It was delightful receiving her loving attention, and I gave her some head butts to show my approval. I will need a lengthy, gradual introduction to my new home and family. Give me a small, safe space where I can retreat if I get stressed. Here are my deets: I am a 12-year-old, orange-and-white DSH male, 6.9 pounds, and neutered. If you can offer me a calm, loving, predictable lifestyle, I'd love to come home with you! 9-21-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
