Simba The Great
I don't want to brag, but I am named for the main character in The Lion King. I know I'm not a real lion, but I think that I'm pretty great! I'm 2-years and 7-months old, a neutered male, DSH, with a brown-and-black tabby coat. I weigh 11.6 pounds. I was brought to the HSHC by my owner on August 29 and immediately sent to the emergency animal hospital because I had had a urinary blockage for the past 2 to 3 days. This is a very serious condition and life-threatening if untreated. My owner could not afford to pay for my surgery and treatment, so she surrendered me to the HSHC. Even though the doctors said my prognosis was guarded, I made it through. One of the doctors described me, post-surgery, as "euphoric-very sweet and affectionate". I sure felt 100% better! Having a blockage means I will need to stay on the Hill's C/D Urinary prescription diet to promote better urinary health. I was given medicine to help with the infections and for pain management.
I began life as an unsocialized young kitten surrendered to the Humane Society of Colorado. I don't know how I ended up in Westfield, Indiana, but I'm glad I'm here at the HSHC! Even though my Emergency Veterinarian bill was $4,000, my adoption fee is only $200. I met with the interviewer lady (IL) a few days ago, and we had a great time. I greeted her right away and put my head in her hand. I even leaned over the shelf in my Condo, upside down, so she could hold my head up and scratch my chin. I blushed when she told me I am a very handsome boy. She also told me that people like outgoing, confident cats like me when they are looking for a pet. I am also curious about the world outside my Condo. Since I have been given a second chance at a healthy life, I am excited to think about my second chance at a forever home! 10-19-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
