Pooh Bear
I was named after my favorite character, Winnie the Pooh. To quote Pooh, "You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes." By putting my interview on our website, I am going to you so you will come to me! I am a 1-year-old, brown-black-white DSH with tabby markings. I was found by a kind lady on July 2 and brought to the HSHC. As a stray cat, I was initially terrified of my medical examination. I reacted by yelling my head off, growling, and trying to run away. I had live fleas and scabs on my head. After an X-ray of my tummy, it was clear I was carrying kittens. I was then sent to a foster home where I could spend my pregnancy and have my babies. On August 11, I gave birth to four healthy kittens. My foster mom (FM) gave the following report to the interviewer lady (IL).
Pooh Bear is a delightful cat. She has impeccable litter-box manners and isn't picky about food. She prefers a fountain to a water bowl. She can take some time to warm up, but after she gave birth, she became more sociable. She was ultimately very people-oriented, asking for pets and wanting to snuggle; she loved being held like a baby, and she communicated her boundaries appropriately. She wanted to be with me, but she wasn't ready to be a lap cat. I think that could develop once she settles into her forever home, when kittens aren't regularly parkouring off her! She met a few new people, including a child, and she was a perfect lady with all of them, asking gently for attention and purring up a storm. Pooh is a dedicated slow blinker. She and I would spend several minutes trading slow blinks back and forth, and I could always count on her to give me a slow blink from across the room when we were both being used as kitten cat trees.
I moved back into the HSHC Cattery on October 11, when I met the IL in person. She told me I was absolutely adorable and had a very sweet, friendly personality. I was rolling onto my back and begging for pets. I weigh only 7 pounds now and definitely look like a very young kitty. I think I will make someone an outstanding companion. The IL agrees! 10-15-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
