Lindsey (at Smitten Kitten)
Whew! Things move pretty fast around here at HSHC. I checked into the shelter on 9-6-26 when a kind lady found me in Fishers. I am a 10-year-old female dilute Calico DSH cat, already spayed, microchipped, and weighing 7.5 pounds. The only problem is that I was chipped in Paso Robles, California, and no one has responded to my number. And I guarantee I did not walk all the way to Fishers, Indiana! After I was examined and medically cleared, I was moved to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC) on 9-18-26. Since I just got here, I am still trying to figure out my place in the scheme of things.
When the interviewer lady (IL) came to talk with me, I was hiding under a large metal shelf unit in the space off-limits to the public. It felt like the safest place to settle in and think. The IL was in there visiting some other cats when she heard me growl and hiss. Another cat was coming mighty close to me, and I did not want to be social. Apparently, I may or may not be fond of other cats. So far, I'd say they get on my nerves. But being here is still very new to me, and I might make some new feline friends. When the place is closed to the public, I have been pretty friendly with the SKCC staff. I think I am going to enjoy being here as there are tons of good napping spots, windows to look out of, food, water fountains, and a caring staff. The IL didn't get a chance to pet me, but she told me I was a beautiful girl. Compliments are one way to win my heart. Second only to tasty treats. I would love a new owner who is really into me and won't let me become a stray again. 9-20-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
