Leonardo
I take pride in the fact that my name means "brave lion." I needed all the bravery I could muster when I was surrendered to the HSHC on June 16. I am 5-years-old and have lived with my owner for 4 years. I lived with kids from age 10 to 17, and we got along very well. About a year after I moved in, they brought a female cat home. We had a short introduction, and then we were put together. She has always been a thorn in my side. We got into altercations every day, growling, hissing, yowling, and tumbling around. When she runs off, my peace returns. We also had to share one extra-large, covered litter box. This was scooped every 2 to 3 days, but never dumped out and scrubbed. My owner did say that I am a confident and friendly cat; when strangers come over, I will come and say hello.
When the medical staff did my first exam, tests revealed I had urinary crystals, which are extremely painful. Add to this the stress of sharing the litter box with a cat that does not like you, and you have a bad situation. I am now eating Hill's Feline C/D Stress to help promote a healthy urinary tract/bladder and decrease my anxiety. I live with several other cats in the Roaming Room, and I get along with all of them. I really liked meeting the interviewer lady (IL). I hopped down from the cat tree to visit her and give her head butts. I let her pet me before I climbed into her lap for some cuddles. She told me I was so handsome and had striking aqua-colored eyes. She was quick to see that I love to chase string toys. As far as she is concerned, she thinks I will make a wonderful house cat for a lucky family. I do too! 8-15-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
