Way back in 2016, I was born at the HSHC. I was soon adopted and lived with my owners until they surrendered me back to the shelter in May 2026. You can imagine my shock and dismay at losing my home. I am now 10-and-1/2 years old, and weigh 12 pounds. I had been the daughter's cat, but she had given me to her parents seven years ago. I led an idyllic life, splitting my time between roaming a large property and living in the house, safe and comfortable. I am the type of guy who needs plenty of "getting to know you" time. I am a sweet boy with loads of charm, but I also have a few idiosyncrasies. For example, I'm afraid of going to the veterinarian: Please don't come on too strong with me; Young kids tread on my last nerve; and I hate being restrained and tightly held. I am an active, playful fellow with a strong need to hunt. Cats have a biological need to stalk, pounce, swat, and catch things. It's called predatory play behavior. Once you have earned my trust, I enjoy engaging in activities with you. You can stimulate my brain and prevent boredom by playing interactive games with me. Puzzle toys, a wand with a feathered toy on the end of a string, and laser pointers all provide me with an opportunity to hunt and catch. This will strengthen my bond with my new family. Because the children in my former home drove me bonkers, I will need a home where everyone is 10 and older. I have always had excellent litter box skills and no body sensitivities. During my medical examination, I found out that I have diabetes. I am currently taking insulin shots and eating a diet of Fancy Feast Classics. Although I was not in the best mood when I first checked into the cattery, I have mellowed quite a bit since then. The interviewer lady (IL) stopped by my Condo the other day, and I immediately hopped down and approached her. I sniffed her fingers and bent my head to elicit pets. She gave me a lovely massage of my ears, head, and chin. I really wasn't ready for her to stop and gave her some head butts to keep her from leaving. I am looking forward to a fresh start to my life with a new family. 7-28-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
