Do you know what allergies are? I sure don't, and neither does Callie Girl, the other cat that was surrendered to the HSHC on June 2, 2026. I am 6-years-old and have lived with my owner all my life. He said "allergies in his grandchildren" is the reason we are now at the HSHC. My owner said that I don't like being picked up, but I will sit on you or next to you. And I enjoy sleeping in bed with you. I love head scratches, getting the zoomies, and running around with my catnip toys. I have tolerated and ignored dogs such as Labradors, Australian shepherds, and Basset Hounds. Callie Girl and I have never bonded so that I can go home with someone by myself. Those grandchildren I mentioned were too active and unpredictable for my comfort. I was freaked out when I first went into my cattery apartment, and I reacted to this big change by hissing, swatting, and trying to escape. It took me a couple of weeks to learn that everyone just wanted to take care of me and that this was a good place to be. It takes me a while to feel confident around new people or situations. I will need a lengthy introduction to my new home and a patient person who understands shy cats. My medical examination revealed that because all of my paws were declawed in the past, I have bone fragments in all four feet. OUCH! The HSHC staff says that I will need to be a foster-to-adopt cat until my paws have been fixed. I am also on the portly side and need to lose weight. Currently, I weigh 13.9 pounds and am eating Hill's Metabolic diet. I got an upper respiratory infection and had to go to a foster home where I could relax and recover. On July 15, I moved into my foster home, and it took me only about 24 hours to feel comfortable enough to explore the house. My foster mom (FM) told the interviewer lady (IL) that I have been a perfect gentleman, having never batted at, hissed at, or nipped anyone. While I wouldn't call myself a lap cat, I have snuggled up to my FM for short cuddles. I am a sucker for a good brushing session, as I like being well-groomed! My litter box manners are impeccable. My foster mom (FM) told the interviewer lady (IL) that I have been a perfect gentleman, having never batted at, hissed at, or nipped anyone. While I wouldn't call myself a lap cat, I have snuggled up to my FM for short cuddles. I am a sucker for a good brushing session, as I like being well-groomed! My litter box manners are impeccable. I have a good appetite, and mealtimes are when I am most likely to talk to you. I've gotten along with every adult I've encountered. My preferred activity is playtime! Catching the ribbon on a fishing pole, batting around balls, and capturing catnip mice are all my favorite ways to spend time. My FM says I am a very sweet-natured, polite boy who has never gotten into any trouble. I think I will make someone a very happy human if they take me home with them, as long as they don't have allergies. 8-4-26
Important Notice: A “meet and greet” with any existing dogs in your home is required, supervised by our team in our play areas. We encourage bringing your family and current dogs, especially if traveling from afar. Cats are not required for a meet and greet.
Adoption Hours: Daily 12-5PM, closed Wednesdays. No appointment needed, unless the dog or cat is in foster! Apply and then call us at 317-773-4974 to set up a meet and greet with an pet in foster care.
Dog Adoption Fees:
*The age on the card is rounded up
- Under 1 year: $200
- 1-4 years: $100
- 5-9 years: $55
- 10+ years: $35
*The non-refundable hold fee is $40.
Included with Dog Adoptions:
- Heartworm Test (age appropriate)
- At least one round of age appropriate vaccinations
- At least one round of flea/tick preventative
- Complimentary Bag of Food
- Complimentary Wellness Exam & Rabies Vaccine
Cat Adoption Fees:
- Under 1 year: $100
- 1-4 years: $65
- 5-9 years: $35
- 10+ years: $25
Included with Cat Adoptions:
- Feline Leukemia/FIV Test (age appropriate)
- At least one round of age appropriate vaccinations
- At least one round of flea/tick preventative
- Complimentary Bag of Food

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
