Description Matteo
Matteo
I am very pleased to meet you. My name is Matteo, and I am a 5-year-old, 11.2-pound, brown and white tabby cat. If you look at my photos, you can see that I am a handsome, short-haired fellow. In August, my owner surrendered me and another cat to the HSHC. My brother from another mother, Sir Apollo, and I were considered the best of bonded friends. However, we have recently decided that this is not the case. Before being surrendered, we lived with several different owners, moving around several times. Change is an intolerable situation for cats, and we were rehomed for about a month before this latest owner surrendered us to HSHC. Although I can become nervous when seeing the veterinarian or dealing with new situations, I am usually flexible. When Apollo and I moved into a shelter roaming room, we began to fuss with each other so much that in September, we were placed in a foster home to see if our behavior improved in a home environment. It was wonderful at first. We had the run of the whole basement. Our foster family was great, and gave the interviewer lady (IL) a glowing report of our progress. I have excellent litter box skills! I soon adjusted to my foster home, and I was always very quick to greet them, allowing them to give me my beloved face rubs. I am healthy, playful, and great with strangers. My favorite things? I love the cat tree, mealtimes, snuggling with the family, being petted and brushed, and lying on my back. However, because Apollo and I began hissing and swatting at each other again, it became clear that I was getting on his nerves, and he was simply not happy living with me. So we returned to the shelter to be adopted separately. I am a superb cat and would make a terrific pet, just not with Sir Apollo. Despite our recent challenges, I have shown great adaptability and resilience, and I am ready to bring joy to a new home. 10-16-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
