Description Sir Gus (In Foster)
Sir Gus
Fresh from my debut walking the runway at Tinsel & Tails, 2025, I have been inundated with questions and compliments from my burgeoning fan base. You may have heard of me if you follow the HSHC press. I am a 12-year-old grey-and-white tabby fellow with a very youthful appearance and attitude. For example, I am the very first cat in T&T history to walk the runway on a harness and leash, with frequent stops along the way to speak with admirers. I am a friendly, outgoing guy with the confidence to strut my stuff in front of 100s of people! You have to be a confident individual to do that! You might never guess my age, as my face has been compared to a kindergartener's. I lived with my first owner for 11 years, but he surrendered me to the HSHC last June. The great news is I have been living with a foster mom (FM) who treats me like a king! She and I understand one another, and I love her. Actually, I have never met a stranger! When I met the interviewer lady I immediately approached her for some pets. She enjoyed seeing my enthusiastic response to her loving attention. Yep, I just love being loved on and petted. My FM is proud to say my litterbox skills are outstanding. My owner had my front paws declawed years ago, which can result in painful arthritis, but I don't let it get me down. I do have diabetes, and my FM says that taking care of a cat with diabetes can sound scary, but it's pretty straightforward and soon becomes easy. It is essential to have a schedule. Insulin is to be given every 12 hours with food. FM and I have an easy routine. Every morning, I go to our "spot" where she checks my blood sugar. This is just a tiny poke on my ear. Then she serves me my breakfast. While I'm eating, she draws up a small amount of insulin and injects it into my shoulder blade. It's painless, so I don't even notice! We do the same thing in the evening. At bedtime, we check my blood sugar, I get a snack, but no shot. When you look at all the kittens at the HSHC, remember that I am low-key, not crazy at 3:00 a.m., and unlikely to disturb your sleep. You will need to be comfortable with managing my diabetes, so please consider this when thinking about adopting me. But everyone says I am a gem, and I'll add loads of love to your life. 11-23-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
