Winston (at Smitten Kitten)
How do you do? I am likely not out and about for you to see while you read my interview. The interviewer lady (IL) still hasn't met me yet. I was surrendered to the HSHC along with my roommate Marley on May 30 because our owner was moving. Marley and I are not bonded even though we lived together my whole life. I am a 4-year-old classic black-and-white Tuxedo DSH male cat. Say that 4 times really fast! I am neutered and use my litter box like a pro. The thing is, I am shy. I mean really shy. My owner adopted me from PetSmart. I have always enjoyed playing with toys, and my BFF was the Corgi! We played together all day and would even play-wrestle. But here is a clue to my personality. If I get anxious, I might suckle on a blanket. I lived happily with an 11-year-old and an 18-year-old kid. When I first arrived at the HSHC, I was so afraid of all the changes taking place in my life that all I wanted to do was hide. If someone tried to interact with me, I would hiss, perhaps swat, and try to escape. Sound familiar? This is typical scaredy-cat reactivity. After being in the cattery for about a month, I became more comfortable with this new lifestyle. On July 15, I moved over to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC). Although this place is fantastic with loads of good napping spots and places to hide, I have found out I'm starting from scratch in a new place. The HSHC staff understands that with a cat like me, I will need an extra-long adjustment period when I move to my new home. Currently, I spend most of my time hiding in the back room of the SKCC, only coming out when it is quiet and I only have to visit with the staff. The HSHC will provide you with information on helping me transition to your home and increasing my bravery, confidence, and comfort levels. I would really love to find my forever address so I can get some return address labels for my outgoing mail. I don't have a computer. 8-8-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
