Description Tigger (in Foster)
Tigger
I am keeping my spirits up and thinking positively about finding my forever home. I am a 4-year-old DSH, tan-and-brown girl with Tabby stripes. I am spayed and litter box trained. My owner told the HSHC that I had been a wonderful companion up until she surrendered me to the shelter on July 13. This is the sad part of my story. I'm a rather sensitive girl, easily startled and frightened by sudden movements and loud sounds. For example, lawn mowers and vacuum cleaners are terrifying. I react by running and hiding, or swatting at whatever scares me. Recently, I was sitting at the window when I suddenly spotted either another cat or a raccoon, and I became panicky! Because I couldn't get at the animal, I hissed and swatted at the window. I took out my fear and frustration on my owner.
I feel very sad that she had to surrender me to the HSHC, but I understand. What I need is a quiet, predictable home with low traffic and family members who are all 16 or older. I need owners who can read my body language when I'm feeling fearful or anxious. The interviewer lady (IL) wants you to know she has only seen my charming side. When she has visited me, I have given her head butts, pushed my head into her hands, let her pet me all over, and demonstrated my friendly, sociable, and curious behaviors. My new home must provide a small, safe space to call my own, where I can retreat. Because I am a young, active cat, interactive play sessions several times a day with wand toys, laser pointers, or puzzle toys with hidden treats will help me bond with my humans. Please allow me to chase, catch, and bite the toy, as this helps satisfy my natural prey drive. Although I am a healthy girl, my front paws were declawed, giving me arthritis in my feet. My owner reported that I am a lovable cat who would climb into her lap to sit and watch TV. (I slept; she watched TV) I also slept with her at night. I don't like being picked up or having my stomach or feet messed with. The IL also told me I have the cutest little round face. Look at my eyes in my pictures. My pupils were enormous when I arrived and gradually got smaller as I became more comfortable. Please come and adopt me. 9-17-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
