I think you can tell I am a shy little girl, weighing 7.1 pounds. I am 1-year, 7-months old, mostly white with grey spots, spayed, litter box trained, and shaking in my boots at all the changes I've experienced lately. I was transferred to HSHC from a shelter in Muncie on August 13. Moving into the cattery here was alarming because I had to have blood tests. My spay incision had opened a little bit, so I had to take some medicine. Also, I was given a C/D diet to promote urinary health. I'm feeling much better now. When the interviewer lady (IL) first came to see me, I was napping and reluctant to get up. The next time, I was in the litter box room and poked my head into the bedroom to give her a sniff. I let her pet me, but I suddenly became intensely interested in making biscuits on my bed. It is safe to say I prefer a calm, gentle approach from people and can scurry away if something startles me. IL told me I was a beautiful little girl, and she noted all the grey markings on my face, ears, and body. Then she got very quiet because she knew that my blood tests revealed that I have FeLV. This stands for Feline Leukemia Virus, a retrovirus that infects cats and can compromise their immune system. It can be spread to other cats through saliva, bite wounds, and sexual behavior. We FeLV-positive cats must stay away from FeLV-negative cats. Although no one can predict my life expectancy, we often have a shortened lifespan. But in my defense, if you adopt me, know that you are doing a very noble thing. You are giving me a chance at a happy life, when a lot of people would simply walk by my cage. Although my lifespan may be shorter than that of a normal cat, that life can be filled with happiness for both of us. Please don't walk on by. 9-20-26
