Description Trip
Trip's Compatibility:
Dogs – Needs a dog sibling at home!
Cats – Passed his cat test
Kids – Yes
Trip is one of our go-to snuggle buddies around here. With the people he knows, he's a total lap dog who crawls right in and asks for pets. He even eats best with a friend in the room.
Getting there takes him a little time. Trip spent weeks on his own before he was found, so new people make him nervous at first, and he likes to make the first move. One morning, a staff member simply stretched out on the floor near him, and he wagged his tail and crawled over for belly rubs. He'll be happiest in a calm, low-traffic home where guests let him come to them.
Other dogs bring out his very best, and having a buddy nearby gives him the courage to be brave. Recently, playing alongside a dog friend is what helped him walk right up to someone new for affection. That's why Trip needs to go home with another dog, so bring your pup to HSHC to meet him.
Because he spent so long on the run, a sudden noise can still make him want to bolt. His home will need a physical fence (no invisible fences), and he'll be supervised whenever he's outside. He'll head home in a martingale collar to keep him secure on walks. A house suits him much better than an apartment.
Trip is housebroken and will bark or whine when he needs to go out. He's young and still learning the basics, so gentle, positive training is the way to his heart. In the evenings, he loves curling up with his people for TV time.
Trip has had enough of life on his own. Now he's ready for a home where he'll never have to face the world by himself again.
