Let me begin my interview by letting you know I am a senior cat. I turned 10-years-old on May 21. My first owner gave me to my second owner about a year ago. However, when this owner's daughter moved back home and brought along her two dogs, things began to "go south." The dogs and I could not come to a socially acceptable relationship, and I was surrendered to the HSHC on May 31. I've been told I am a lovely grey and buff DSH, and I'm already spayed and litter box trained. Like most older cats, I have some arthritis, making my hips hurt. So I do not enjoy being picked up. I take a long time to adjust to change. Moving to the shelter was quite an upheaval to my system, and my initial response to those interacting with me is to hiss and avoid contact. I prefer to be the one who decides when to be social with my human. I will accept your pets and affection, but I'll also let you know when it's time to stop. Unlike many senior cats, I still love l playing with toys such as rubber bracelets, string toys on a wand, and anything I can chase and catch. My owner said I am very kitten-like when I play. Going to the veterinarian is not my idea of a good time. I've been called "spicy" when I go in for nail trims. When my owner had another person to help her, she could cut my nails herself. When the dogs moved in, my stress level shot through the roof. I think I'd be happiest to be the only four-legged family member. Or if you do have other pets, remember to give us a very gradual introduction. In addition to the toys and interactive playtime with my person, I am a big fan of sunbathing! Give me a sunny window and a soft bed, and I'll be one happy girl! The interviewer lady (IL) learned that I need a quiet, calm environment and a slow but sure approach in making friends with me. Once I trust you, I can be friendly and affectionate. Please give me a chance to "grow on you!" 8-10-26
