Description Mona
Mona
When I was surrendered to the HSHC on May 27, I was given a new name. I had been called Moe, but now I am Mona. This is a multicultural name from Ireland, England, Italy, and Spain. I like this much more than Moe. In my first home, I was confined to a single room, essentially alone for several years. Then my owner gave me to a friend who kept me for two weeks, alone in a bathroom before taking me to the shelter. I would refer to these homes as solitary confinement. Is it surprising that I was not a happy cat when I first arrived? I had very few social skills and was more frightened by all the new people, examinations, and numerous changes in my lifestyle than anything else. A fearful cat is a miserable cat. I am a 7-year-old, golden and brown DSH with tabby markings. I am already spayed and litterbox trained. After moving into a foster home, the HSHC staff decided I needed to move into an office where I could relax, grow accustomed to one person, and see if I began to feel better. Where I was once a grouchy gal, I am now a friendly, easy-going gal who enjoys being petted and receiving affection. The magic potion that caused this change of heart is the office cat, Rascal. This big inky-black guy has parked himself just outside my gate, and we have enjoyed many gate-dates! When the interviewer lady (IL) first came to talk with me, I gave her the cold shoulder. Now, I greet her, give her head butts and loud purrs, and accept all the pets. I will require plenty of time to get used to a new forever home, so I need a patient, gentle owner. A home with a friendly, welcoming cat will make my life so much happier. Let the HSHC staff help you make the transition to your home successful. By the way, the IL told me I have gorgeous eyes! Please ask to visit with me. I'll be waiting! 7-29-26
