Penelope & Harper
Hold onto your hats, folks! Our story is complicated. My name is Penelope, and I do the talking for my pal Harper and myself. You know, in every bonded pair of animals (and even people), there is one more extroverted and outgoing, and one who is shy and reluctant to interact. I am Harper's younger sister, at 14-years old. He is almost 15-years old. I was a 2-month-old stray kitten at the HSHC in 2012. I was adopted and surrendered back to the shelter four times through no fault of my own. Being a stray, having allergic family members, being rejected by existing pets, and finally, an animal control matter. Harper entered my life in 2013 when my adopter brought him home, and we have lived together ever since. We were brought to the HSHC on January 28, 2026, by a Noblesville Police Officer. I hope you are following along ok. My second owner had good things to say about me. I was great around her grandchildren and was perfectly housetrained. That owner described me as friendly, affectionate, and playful. Back then, my name was Chanel. I will tell you what I know about Harper, since he staged a boycott of talking with the interviewer lady (IL), whom I found perfectly lovely and not at all a busybody, as Harper said. Harper was a stray cat brought to the HSHC on August 5, 2013, when he was two years old. My owner adopted him in September 2013. I can't tell you anything about his previous life, but he has always been shy. During his medical exam, Harper found out he had ear infections in both ears. He has recovered nicely since then. He is already neutered and litterbox trained. He does have this little quirk about needing plenty of alone time to settle into a new place. If you are lucky enough to adopt us, he will probably take longer to adjust than I will. I am actually a social butterfly, and I love to talk, explore, and get up close and personal with everyone. I'm a chatty catty! By the way, we were adopted in April, but 3 days later, she returned us to the shelter due to a lack of commitment.
