Nutmeg
(Needs a Foster)

Hello. Please take a good look at me. I'm a 7-year-old Calico girl, with light green eyes, a soft white front, and a black-and-orange back. I'm a smidge over my ideal weight, but I can lose a couple of pounds with some help. I'm spayed, and my front paws were declawed years ago. I'm a lovely cat who's had more than my share of stress. Those of you who had a brother or sister who enjoyed tormenting you all your life may sympathize with me. My brother and I were adopted as kittens, but he's always been a bully. He starts fights, stalks, and pounces on me, which is enough to give a girl a complex! I'm much happier and more relaxed when my brother and I are kept separate. Did you know that a stressful environment can actually make a kitty ill? I've enjoyed my time with the puppy who moved in and the young kids I've lived with. On April 8, I was surrendered to the HSHC. I told the interviewer lady (IL) that moving into the shelter with strangers and new routines made me anxious. At first, I avoided people by hissing and hiding. But after a couple of weeks, I realized people wanted me to feel comfortable and safe. When the IL opened my door, I hopped down from atop my Kasa and pushed my head into her hand for pets. I stretched out, my feet on her arm, and exposed my pink belly! I let her pet me all over for ages. It felt wonderful to have special one-on-one time. The HSHC believes I would thrive in a calm, quiet home with a predictable routine. If you have other pets, a gradual introduction will help us avoid negative reactions. I would love to go home with you as long as my brother is not there! 5-27-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
