Nidalee
(Needs a Foster)

Although I am only 1-year, 8-months old, I have seen more than my share of unfortunate events. I don't recall my kittenhood, and I'm not sure whether Clancy is my brother. I do know that Clancy and I were abandoned on the HSHC property in a cat carrier on April 2, '26. The staff found us when they came to work that morning. Neither one of us was too keen about being examined, weighed, given shots, and restrained. Because the HSHC staff had no information about our lives prior to April 2, they guessed that we had not been in a loving home or taught basic kitten care by our mother. On April 12, the cattery staff found I had given birth to 4 kittens. Three were stillborn, and only one was still breathing. But it soon passed away. Because Clancy was not neutered when he arrived, he may have fathered my kittens. All that I am certain about is that I am frightened, anxious, and reluctant to interact with people. Although the cattery staff does not think he and I are bonded, now that we are both living in Roaming Room #1, we tend to stay close together. I've been at the HSHC for at least 89 days, and I am still painfully shy and reluctant to socialize. My future owner will need to understand my insecurity and hesitation to engage with them. My new owner must provide me with daily positive experiences using interactive toys and lots of enrichment. My owner has to be patient, not push me past my comfort level, and maintain realistic expectations. The interviewer lady (IL) has been trying to get me to open up to her, and I appreciate her efforts. She tells me I am such a pretty, very petite little girl, and I have sniffed her finger and let her touch my head. Even though Clancy and I don't have to be adopted together, I know that we provide a sense of security and comfort to each other.

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
