Provide Marley (in Foster)
With a Loving Home

Forgive me if I have trouble talking about the saddest day of my life. In February, my sister Foomf and I were brought to the HSHC by a Carmel Police Officer. We were bonded, best friends, and always lived together. We were both 13-years-old. Foomf was missing most of her upper teeth and her front left leg. After spending over a month in a loving foster home, we returned to the HSHC to find our forever home. However, on May 5, Foomf began struggling to breathe. The doctor found she had a heart-based mass, and her prognosis was very poor. She was helped over the Rainbow Bridge that day. I am devastated and miss my best friend very much. I am living in a new foster home to give me a safe place to mourn Foomf. Here is a bit about me. When we first arrived, I found the shelter exceedingly stressful, and I overgroomed myself to the point that I looked shaved. I was given some calming medicine, and we moved into a foster home. Our foster mom (FM) reported that we adjusted well to our homelife. We both used the litterbox without fail. I have always been the more outgoing kitty, while Foomf was more shy. We enjoyed having the run of the house, especially the sunroom, where we could catch all the bird, squirrel, and rabbit action in the yard. We both enjoyed being brushed and using the scratching post FM bought for us. I LOVED jumping up to get to the top of high places. I was also voted most likely to be a lap cat! My coat has been slowly returning to its lustrous, silvery grey. Though I will always miss when Foomf and I would kiss by touching noses, I know that finding a loving owner will help me recover. 5-7-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
