Teddy
Well, butter my buns and call me a biscuit! Howdy do! I've had my name for all 12 years of my life, and I'd like to keep it. I am a handsome DLH boy with a brown-and-black coat. I look like I have bed head most of the time. When I was about 8 yrs old, we were living in Houston, Texas. Suddenly my personality began to change. I hissed at people, yowled, was grumpy throughout the day, lethargic, and sensitive to touch. I was no longer the sweet-natured boy I had been. The Veterinarian found that I had an extremely painful blockage in my urethra. I had emergency surgery to repair my urethra while in Texas. I began eating C/D food, and when we moved to Chicago, I got a clean bill of health. It's been 4 years now, and as long as I stay on this diet, I'm good to go! I was surrendered to the HSHC on July 18, 2026, due to my owner's health. She reported that I am a wonderful companion. I like to hunt, so when treats are tossed into the room, I can always find them. I got along great with the other cats in the home, as we'd groom, snuggle, and interact with each other. With kids, I ignore the babies, but when they're 6 months or more, I rub against them and ask to be petted. Favorite things include: string toys, squeeze tube, and crunchy treats. As far as I'm concerned, I am a very lovable cat with a friendly personality. I do love to try to leave by the front door to have a look-see. But it's easy to prevent my exit! I also find food very precious. Cats have a natural need to "hunt" for their food. If I am only fed twice a day, I can become obsessed with food. If you will separate my daily food allotment into five small meals in different locations, it will satisfy my hunting instinct, teach me that I can hunt and find my food, and cut down on my fixation on eating. Puzzle feeders and foraging toys are another great way to support natural hunting behaviors and make mealtime more engaging. My time with the interviewer lady (IL) was pretty terrific. I let her pet me all over, showing off my luxurious coat. After a while, I noticed my untouched breakfast and started eating. I currently live in Cattery 4 in a Condo. Please come to the HSHC and meet me! I think you'll agree I am quite a catch! 9-15-26
