Description Winnie
Winnie
I'm a little hazy on my personal history. When I was six years old, I was adopted from a shelter in Marion County. I lived with this owner for five years until June 2026, when he surrendered me to the HSHC. I can't remember how many owners I've had, but I hope I find a forever home this time. I am an 11-year-old female Tortoiseshell cat, and I'm interested in retiring. I have already been spayed, and my medical examination revealed I am a pretty healthy senior citizen. Some cat aficionados will tell you that Tortoiseshell cat's moods can shift quickly, from cuddly and loving to assertive or even hissy when overstimulated. This unpredictability is what cat enthusiasts call "tortitude," reflecting our spirited and sometimes diva-like behavior. Torties may be cautious or shy around strangers and other pets, preferring to take the lead in being affectionate. My temperament can be off-putting to some owners, but those who appreciate my independence will understand that I'm just being myself. I love my people, but I would rather hang out next to you instead of cuddling on your lap. When the interviewer lady (IL) visited me, I let her pet my head, neck, and chin and made biscuits on my blanket. She knew that I would let her know when I had enough direct stimulation. She laughed a little when she saw me with a BLEP = the cat tongue tip protrudes from the mouth after grooming, eating, or being distracted. I want to make sure you understand that I will need a lengthy introduction to your home, people, and other pets. And I will need a small, safe space to call my own until I feel comfortable and trusting. The HSHC staff will provide you with a plan to make my transition from the shelter to your home succeed. 7-29-26
