Barley came to HSHC from another shelter, and he's been waiting a long time for the right people to walk through the door. Ask the staffer who's known him for over two years and she'll tell you he's one of the sweetest, most loving dogs she's ever met. On her lunch breaks, she lays a blanket out and Barley stretches out beside her while she reads. She calls it their picnic time. That's who he is once he's comfy with you. He just wants to lean against your leg or lie right next to you. Bring some treats into it and his goofy, toy-loving side comes right out to play.

He does best with kids 14 and up, where everyone can read his cues and give him room when he needs it. A calm meet and greet will show us how he does with other dogs, and he's hoping for a home without cats.

Barley has been through so much, and waited far too long for something that should have been his ages ago. He's ready to know what family feels like. Come meet him at the shelter and let him show you why the people who know him can't stop rooting for him.
