Meet Jim! Everyone who's gotten to know him here at the shelter agrees that he's a sweet-natured and fun-loving guy.
Jim is a very intelligent dog. Sit, Wait, Lay down, Back, Spin, and Turn are just a few of the many tricks that he's mastered. He would enjoy lots of physical and mental activities such as long walks or puzzle feeders. He's crate-trained and he'll patiently allow bathing, nail trims, and teeth brushing at home. He loves car rides.
Jim absolutely loves treats and enjoys "earning" them. Soft treats, hard treats, chewy treats – he's not picky! He will patiently sit or eagerly show off his other tricks in exchange for a treat, and he takes them very politely. He loves to give gentle kisses while leaning into you for pets. He often glances back at you while on walks just to check in. He's the type of dog who feels happiest and most secure when he's by your side.
When the mood strikes, he gets the zoomies, and he enjoys playtime with a rope tug. He's had good experiences in play groups with other dogs. His playstyle tends to be gentle at first, then gets rowdier as he grows more familiar with his playmates.
At only 3 years old, Jim has been through many changes in his life and he can feel unsure in new or loud situations. However, once Jim warms up and feels safe, he can be a rowdy and excitable boy. He'd benefit from having a patient owner who can reinforce good manners and show him that the world can be a fun and safe place.
Can you be the one to show this sensitive boy the lifelong love he's been missing, and help him to blossom into the confident dog he's meant to be? Come into the shelter and bring any other family members or dogs to meet Jim. He's eager to show you all the tricks he knows!

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
