Description Toothless (Bonded To Wildfire) (in Foster)
Wildfire and Toothless
We are littermate brothers, 2-years-old, neutered, and declawed on the front paws. We could be twins except that Toothless has a smidge of white in his coal-black coat. Wildfire does not. We both have big gold eyes. We were brought to the HSHC and surrendered by our owner on February 2. The resident dog did not like us, and we were afraid of him. We tolerated him, but he barked at us and tried to catch us. So we lived upstairs while the dog stayed downstairs. We lived with our owner our entire lives and are truly bonded brothers. We were declawed about 4 months ago and are still getting used to it. Living with the dog and then coming to the shelter has caused us a high level of stress. We have responded to being in the cattery with considerable anxiety and were put on a diet to reduce stress. On February 21, we moved into a foster home to help us relax. Our foster mom (FM) has been kind and patient. We have fallen in love with her. She gave the interviewer lady (IL) the following report: Both cats are using the litterbox with no accidents. They always cover up their product. These boys are coming out of their shells and exploring every place in the house. They love perching as high up as possible. Wildfire was the first to jump onto the bed to sleep with me. He is a real cuddly boy. Toothless is a little more reserved, but he enjoys sitting next to me or lying on the floor with me. They are both eating their food without problems, but they prefer dry food over wet. They are big fans of drinking water from the faucet. Although not very vocal, they both make soft little mews. They consistently check on each other, and you can tell they love each other. They have been a complete joy for me and are very well-behaved.

We told you our FM was crazy about us. One thing to keep in mind: We are active cats with loads of energy. The HSHC recommends we spend playtime with our new owner using puzzle toys and interactive toys, such as laser pointers and fishing poles with a toy at the end of the string. This helps us expend energy, use our natural foraging skills, and strengthen the bond between our adopters and us. We used to live with 12- and 15-year-old kids and got along swimmingly! We hope our story will tug on someone's heartstrings and they will adopt us! 3-16-26

Important Notice: A “meet and greet” with any existing dogs in your home is required, supervised by our team in our play areas. We encourage bringing your family and current dogs, especially if traveling from afar. Cats are not required for a meet and greet.

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
