About Martha May Whovier (in Foster)
If you are a fan of the Jim Carrey version of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, you will know I was named for the Whoville lady who loved the Grinch. I was brought to the HSHC just after Christmas, so that's how I got this name. Before that, I was just a stray cat in Cicero. I am a 10-years-old, 7.3-pound, DMH black-and-white female cat. No one has ever taken care of me, and I have never had my own bed and regular meals. I think my initial medical exam was the first time my health had been evaluated. I was extremely dehydrated, thin, with a dirty coat. It felt so good to be indoors, safe in a cozy, warm place. I have been given fluids, medication, and a special diet. The interviewer lady (IL) said my job now is to relax, wait for someone to fall in love with me, and adopt me. When she opened my door, she spoke quietly to me about how pretty I was, and soon I approached her for some pets. I especially loved the cheek and chin rubs, so I began to purr. Even though I have only been here a little more than a month, I finally feel comfortable with the people and the routines they follow to care for me. I may not be the flashiest, most outgoing kitty in the cattery, but I have tons of love to share with the right person. 2-9-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
