Description Marie (at Smitten Kitten)
Marie
I am one of twelve cats surrendered to the HSHC because our owner passed away. It is hard to be just one cat among many. I am naturally shy, even though Calicos often have a reputation for confidence. My initial check-up showed I am overweight at 16.3 pounds, need dental treatment, and my front paws have been declawed. Despite these, the medical staff determined that I was healthy, and on December 29 I was sent to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC) to meet adopters. Like most of my siblings, I am 7-years-old, spayed, and litterbox trained. The SKCC staff said I am a sweet but very shy girl. I spend most of my time curled up in a cubby. When the interviewer lady (IL) lay down beside my house, I let her pet me and even made biscuits on my bed. She took photos of me all curled up. If someone gives me enough time and space, I will find the courage to come out and make a loving companion. The holiday crowds at the Cafe can be scary for me, so I hide, but I am never angry or crabby. The interviewer said my pretty looks and gentle personality will appeal to people who understand shy cats. I hope she is right, because I am ready to find a patient person who will give me a safe home. I don't like being homeless. 1-3-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
