About Maxy Man
Hi there, Hamilton County! I was transferred to the HSHC from a shelter in French Lick, IN. This place is really something, isn't it? I've been treated like a prince ever since arriving in early October. I am a 3-year-old black DSH cat, neutered and litter-box trained. My medical exam revealed I had worms, needed a dental, and was positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Being FIV+ is never a reason not to adopt. This virus is found only in cats and may weaken their immune systems. Although there is no treatment, I can live a long, happy life [even with FIV-negative cats] with regular vet visits, a healthy diet, and an indoor-only lifestyle. The HSHC staff was glad to treat my various health issues because I am such a fantastic fellow. I am very lovable and have a positive spirit that shines through! When the interviewer lady (IL) visited me, I crawled right into her lap and tucked my head under her arm. We got really cozy for quite some time. Then I hopped down and roamed around the cattery 1, visiting the other cats. I'm a real social butterfly, and I love everyone I encounter. I didn't mind when the IL had to pick me up and return me to my Condo. In November, I met two adults who were looking to adopt a cat. My report card said I was curious, confident, and charming. I encouraged them to give me lots of pets. Sadly, they did not want to take me home. The IL was surprised because I am such a staff and volunteer favorite. But I know the right person is out there just waiting to find me. Merry Christmas, hint, hint! 12-2-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
