About Lana (in Foster)
Hello! I am a 12-year-old lady cat who lived with my original owner my entire life. I was surrendered to the HSHC on August 8, because she couldn't afford the medical care I needed after I became ill. The HSHC ensured I received the correct treatments, including a feeding tube. Now I am back to eating and drinking on my own–I prefer crunchy treats and Meow Mix Tender Centers dry food. I feel 100% better now and am enjoying living in my foster home. My foster mom (FM) says that I am a fascinating kitty. I have two sides to my personality, a morning snuggle buddy, and an evening quiet companion. In the A.M., I am all about the pets and belly rubs, and cuddling. Then I am ready for some all-day nap-a-thoning in a cozy hiding spot. FM says this is great for someone with a 9-to-5 job! Switching to my evening personality, I will demonstrate my happiness to greet you home with little meows, but an occasional back scratch is all I need. This side of me wants to be close to you, just not TOO close. I am fond of sleeping in the same bed as FM, but not right next to her. I have been friendly and sociable with everyone FM has introduced to me, but I haven't met any kids yet.
My foster mom sent the IL the following update. Lana may be 12 but she is a kitten at heart. All she does is play and ask for pets. When it's time to sleep, she goes to my opened drawer of bed sheets which she has claimed as her bed. Lana is absolutely coming out of her shell. She is playing with my other cats, getting more comfortable around my dogs, letting everyone in the home pet her, and even jumped up in my mom's lap today for cuddles. Check out my video! This is in sharp contrast to my earlier behavior. An added bonus in my skills department is that I am completely litter-box trained, and I am a neatnik! I don't kick litter out all over the floor. I think you can see from my photos that I am a cutie-pie! I will make a great best friend for someone who loves fascinating kitties. 12-3-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
