I was just a tiny kitten when I was found with my momma and 2 siblings and brought to the HSHC. I was a very sick baby and spent time in the medical unit recovering from a URI and conjunctivitis. I recovered and was adopted August 23, 2025. I lived in that home for 11 months before my owner surrendered me back to the HSHC on July 6. I am now 1-year-old and a big scaredy cat! The problem is, I was never properly socialized as a kitten. I was fearful, anxious, and was uncomfortable in my home. I have never lived with dogs, but they do scare me when I encounter one. I lived with an 8-year-old female cat, and we were comfortable with each other. I also lived with 18-, 17-, and 7-year-old kids in the home, but I always tried to avoid them. The youngest one really stressed me out! I am not comfortable with being petted or picked up right now. My medical examination revealed I had painful urinary crystals, which made going to the bathroom excruciating. At the shelter, I was started on Hill's C/D Urinary prescription diet to promote better urinary health. Thankfully, this has helped with the crystals, and I am now living in a Roaming Room with other cats. Because I am still very shy and hesitant to interact with people, I will need a lengthy transition period to adjust to a forever home. The interviewer lady (IL) has come in to talk with me several times, and I am usually to be found in the donut cat cozy. I don't hiss, swat, or complain when she finds me. I look at her with my big golden eyes and don't move a muscle. I am still quite young, and I have the potential to become someone's best friend. But it will take a patient person who understands shy kitties, provides me with a small, safe place with everything I need, and lets me slowly get used to the changes. Because I love toys, especially the spring/spiral toys and catnip, I think these will be the way to win my heart and trust. Calming aids, interactive toys (like wand toys, laser pointers, and things I can chase and catch), and yummy treats will help me bond with my owner and build my trust and confidence. Important Notice: A “meet and greet” with any existing dogs in your home is required, supervised by our team in our play areas. We encourage bringing your family and current dogs, especially if traveling from afar. Cats are not required for a meet and greet.
Adoption Hours: Daily 12-5PM, closed Wednesdays. No appointment needed, unless the dog or cat is in foster! Apply and then call us at 317-773-4974 to set up a meet and greet with an pet in foster care.
Dog Adoption Fees:

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
