Description Tiger Lily (in Foster)
Tiger Lily
I think my name is the most visually accurate and spiritually true of all the names I might be called. If you see those orange and brown lilies growing on the side of the road, you know they are beautiful, hardy, and rugged survivors. I am 2-years-old and my owner got me from another rescue group. But after living together for two years, she surrendered me to HSHC on June 11. According to her, we were not the right fit. When I was first introduced to my adoptive home, I was given immediate access to the whole house. This was WAY too much territory to adjust to. It was overwhelming to me as a kitten. I learned to use the litter box like a champ, but when the family left on vacation, I was so stressed that I forgot how. A trip to the veterinarian advised keeping me in a small space, such as a bathroom, with everything I needed to live. I have been staying in a 2-room apartment in the cattery, and although I was a bit spicy when I first arrived, I have mellowed and become friendly and tolerant. Sure enough, I'm back to my A+ litterbox skills! My new family must give me this space where I can settle in and decompress. It may take me a while to feel truly comfortable, but this technique works perfectly. The HSHC has started me on a special diet designed to promote urinary health. I am the kind of cat that startles easily. This means when the dog chased me, I got scared! I was fine with the children as long as they were calm and didn't pick me up. I hate being picked up. Loud noises make me run for cover! I am snuggly on my terms. I love watching birds and chasing bugs. I can get over-stimulated when you pet me for too long, so be sure to watch my body language for signs that I'm done! I love laser pointers and 3-tier ball towers. I especially love the daughter, and I like the son. When they are sitting down and calm, I will climb into their lap. Hard, crunchy salmon-flavored treats are my favorite, but catnip does nothing for me. Though I like a nap during the day, I get the zoomies at night. The interviewer lady (IL) woke me from a nap and began to pet me. I enjoyed the back and neck rub and gave a little meow of approval. I know that I am a calmer, happier kitty now. If you're looking for a resiliant and beautiful cat companion, why not consider adopting me? 7-23-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
