About Snoop (in Foster)
Hey there, cat lovers! You may recall that when my owner died, I was surrendered to the HSHC in mid-May. When I arrived, I was emaciated at 5.7 pounds, dehydrated, and had loads of mats in my long black & white coat. The medical staff discovered I am hyperthyroid, and I've been taking a reasonably priced medicine to control this condition. After a short stay in an adoptive home, I've been living in my foster home since June 21. I am now 15.5-years-old and I've gained a little weight, 8.1 pounds! Yay! Foster mom (FM) gives me my daily pill by placing it on the back of my tongue, and I don't mind it much at all. I enjoy it when FM makes a tent on the couch with blankets so we can go camping! I also like to be petted while I'm dining – it comforts me. My favorite toys are a long shoestring and a laser pointer that I can chase. I'm always up for a catnip high! Although I am a very sweet-natured boy, I can find some situations overstimulating and more difficult to tolerate than others. For example, when I can no longer tolerate being petted, or there is a loud, unexpected noise, I may swat or even nip my human. The key to preventing this from happening is to read my body language and early warning signs like "airplane ears", tail whipping around, crouching low, or hissing. Discontinuing what you are doing results in immediate relief for me. Because young children are not very good at reading my body language, they would not be a good match for me. The HSHC Feline Care Specialists can provide you with suggestions to help me deal with stress. Several interactive play sessions a day, rewarding positive behaviors, providing me with a cat tree close to a window, and plenty of cozy hiding spots will be perfect ways to lessen my anxiety. My FM says that I am a sweet boy, and you can't help but fall in love with me. Awwwww, Gee thanks FM. 11-25-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
