About Poppy (in Foster)
Honestly, I don't regret anything I've experienced in my life. You might wonder why I don't hold a grudge, but I am 100% a creature of love. I am now 17-years-old, and the first time I was surrendered to HSHC, I was 15. I was adopted in November of 2023, but I was found as a stray in Indianapolis in October 2025. You can't reach the age of seventeen without having a few health problems, especially since my owners have not been particularly conscientious. The medical staff's examination revealed that I am completely or mostly blind, but I have adapted very well. I need a diet that supports my kidney function. And because all four of my paws are declawed, I have arthritis in my joints. However, I remain cheerful, friendly, and grateful to be alive. I have been living in a foster home, and life there is heavenly. My foster mom (FM) sent the interviewer lady (IL) a report on my routine. She says that I am the sweetest, quietest, most adorable mature lady cat! She calls me Queen Poppy and treats me to a royal lifestyle. My favorite activities include frequent naps on my new bed with a heated blanket, strolling around the house to ensure everything is copesetic, and curling up on FM's lap for a cuddle. My only desire is to be adopted by a loving human with a warm lap and a forever home. There are other cats in this home, and I am content to coexist with the older cats, but the foster kittens are so rambunctious and likely to come at me unexpectedly that I do not enjoy their company. I tend to ignore the dogs. Despite my limited vision, I manage to navigate the room pretty well. FM got me a set of stairs to help me climb onto the bed. My appetite for food and water is excellent. My litter box skills are outstanding. I do have trouble maintaining my body weight, so having a heating pad helps keep me comfortable. I am quoting my FM. "Poppy will thrive in a quiet home with someone who is often home and dedicated to simply loving and spoiling her. It breaks my heart that she was surrendered at 15 and now AGAIN at 17. She did not deserve this, as she is an absolutely purrfect little girl." 11-25-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
