Description Charlie (in Foster)
Charlie
In 1976, Revlon introduced a new fragrance called "Charlie". So if anyone asks me why I'm called Charlie, but I'm a girl, I tell them about this scent. Not that I was alive back then. I was born in 2015 and was only 2 months old when I was surrendered to the HSHC. I was a cute little thing and soon got adopted. I lived with my owner my whole life until I showed up as a stray in Anderson. Because I came from HSHC, I was transferred back to this shelter on February 13, 2026. I am now 10-years, 4-months old and feeling pretty low. At some point in my life, my front paws were declawed-such a painful experience. In September 2025, we moved to a new house. One day, I was in my familiar territory, and the next, I was in a completely foreign environment. This caused me enormous stress. I have lived with two other cats and have always considered myself to be their leader. If the other cats challenged my boundaries, it was my job to put them in their place. I recently learned that I have arthritis in my hind legs. All of these situations have made me feel very anxious and sad. The HSHC has given me medicine to help with the pain in my joints and placed me in a Condo where I could relax, enjoy three different levels, and have my very own litter box. Even though I am 10, I look much younger. The interviewer lady (IL) watched me playing with another volunteer and liked how playful I still am. Now, like many older ladies, I can have good days and bad days, depending upon how I'm feeling. On the latest visit from the IL, I was feeling a little fatigued and reserved. So when she brought me new toys, I watched her play with them, but didn't engage. But on my good days, I am much more sociable and interested in having physical attention. I think I would be a perfect companion for a quiet home with a predictable schedule and few demands on my activity level. Napping is so important, don't you agree? The HSHC staff will provide you with important recommendations for making my transition to your home succeed. I can't wait to meet you. 3-2-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
