Ramsey
(Needs a Foster)

I kid you not. My name, Ramsey, is Scottish for "garlic island." I don't particularly like garlic, but I do like my name. I was found as a stray cat at 126th and Lantern Road on April 11, 2026. The humans I've met at the HSHC feel I have not always been a stray. I am much too social and fond of people to have been a total hermit. I am 13 years old, a grey and white DSH, and I weigh only 8.8 pounds. I was neutered in the past (another reason to think I had an owner). However, I have severe gum disease. This affects my teeth and gums, which can make eating uncomfortable if untreated. I also tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is a virus found only in cats. It can gradually lower a cat's immune system, making it harder to fight certain infections. I can live a long, happy life, even with non-FIV cats. I just need regular vet visits, a healthy diet, and an indoor-only lifestyle. After visiting an ophthalmologist, they found I have an autoimmune, inflammatory eye condition that likely relates to my FIV diagnosis. Fortunately, my eye is not painful, and I still have vision in it. So yes, I'm a little shopworn, but my personality makes up for it! I am a true social butterfly who enjoys contact with everyone I meet. When the Cattery Staff were in my room and let me out to roam, I made sure to rub against everyone's legs to show I was up for some loving attention. The interviewer lady (IL) saw me getting awakened and allowing a Feline Care Specialist to pet me all over. I climbed into their lap and then moved to the IL's lap for some loving. I am all about hanging with my people. I may not have had the best start to my life, but I look forward to loads of cuddles and happy days ahead. If you would like to give a senior citizen cat a loving home, please come to the HSHC to meet me. 6-2-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
