Pickles
Whew! I feel like I've been stuck in a revolving door and couldn't get out. Listen, I am only 1-year-old, still very kittenish with a load of energy, and a desire to be active. My battery is fully charged. But I defy any cat to settle into the routine I had. My previous owner acquired me from a friend. I moved into her apartment for 2 months, then I moved into her boyfriend's apartment for about 4 weeks, then moved into a house. Here I was allowed to explore the whole house for one week, and then the resident cat was allowed out as well. This was much too rapid an introduction, and we did not get along at all. I was grounded in my room for one week, and then my owner surrendered me to the HSHC on August 25.
See what I mean? I don't think I was given a chance to settle into a routine, and nothing was predictable. I may be a rambunctious young fellow, but I am not a bad cat. My new owner needs to give me ways to use up my energy with interactive toys and let me exercise my natural hunting instinct. Cats need to chase, catch, and bite their prey: a catnip toy, a feathered toy on a wand, or the red dot of a laser pointer. Just make sure I get to bite whatever I've caught. The more I am allowed to capture something, the less likely I am to try to catch YOU! Catching toys will help me avoid my tendency to view your hands as something to catch. Remember, a tired cat is a good cat! I will also need a lengthy, gradual introduction to any 4-legged family members. The HSHC staff can give you detailed instructions to help make my transition to your home a success. I have had several visitation sessions with potential adopters. During these, I have been very playful, active, friendly, and can become overstimulated during petting. My ideal home is with folks who understand active, young cats and their need for routine, play sessions, and yummy treats. The interviewer lady (IL) told me I am a very handsome guy, with my buff-and-orange coat, white bib and feet, and golden eyes. She told me to be patient because the right person is out there looking for me. 10-7-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
