Jack Black
I was named after a personal hero of mine. My favorite J.B. movies are School of Rock, High Fidelity, Kung Fu Panda, and The Holiday. Trust me, you'll love them. I consider Jack Black and me to be unconventional, free-wheeling, adventurous, independent men of the world. I am 5-years-old, and have always lived outdoors, facing the weather, other animals, lack of food and shelter, and avoiding danger. I am a solid black, DSH, recently neutered, male cat. For 2 years, I had been living as a neighborhood cat in Westfield. (This means that I was unhoused, but folks were feeding me.) I was involved in a tussle with another animal (cat, dog, raccoon?) and I sustained an injury to the left lateral side of my neck. It became infected, and the abscess needed treatment. So one of the neighbors brought me to the HSHC on May 7, 2026. The medical staff there found that I also had ear infections and an upper respiratory infection. In short, I was feeling puny. Although I love the life of an outdoor cat, I would do best in a home that can provide indoor living, safe outdoor time, and care when I need it. I spent quite a while in sick bay, recovering from my ailments. In June, I moved into the cattery, and I have gotten a kick out of the maid service, meal plan, and recreational activities the shelter provides. The other day, the interviewer lady (IL) opened my door and offered her hand for me to sniff. I got busy extricating myself from the soft-sided Kasa, so I could receive her pets and rubs. I loved having her scratch my chin and rub my ears. She noticed I had quite a few scabs and my coat looked a bit rough. But with a good diet and some grooming assistance, I should resume my debonair handsomeness. The HSHC staff feels I will be happiest being an indoor/outdoor cat, with a safe indoor place for resting and care. They will provide you with the techniques to make my change in routine successful. The IL thinks I am quite a special cat with loads of charm. I can't wait to meet my new family! 6-30-26
