Florence is the type of dog who chooses her person and then loves them with everything she's got. She's a shepherd through and through, devoted and happiest as a homebody parked right next to the people she trusts. She loves deeply, though not always instantly, so she likes a little time to warm up to new faces before she decides you're one of hers. And don't let the gray around her muzzle fool you, this girl still has a goofy streak, and she'll rip off a lap of happy zoomies the second someone she loves walks through the door!
Now for the part we always like to be straight about: Florence has diabetes, and she gets insulin twice a day. We know that can sound like a lot at first, but once it settles into your daily rhythm, it truly becomes second nature, just one more small part of your morning and evening before you get back to the important business of couch time together. Diabetic dogs live full, spoiled-rotten lives all the time, and after everything she's been through, Florence has more than earned hers.
She's housebroken, she came to us with some real training already in place, and she loves a calm, predictable kind of day. A patient home with kids around ten and up would suit her beautifully, somewhere quiet enough for a devoted old soul to settle in and simply be your dog.
What Florence wants now is beautifully simple: a quiet home and one steady person to belong to. She's ready to be somebody's loyal girl for the rest of her days, and she's hoping that somebody is you.

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
