Sometimes I feel invisible, like the world's shiest kitty. I am only 3 years old, and I have had low self-esteem since I was just a tiny kitten. I have lived with my owner ever since she adopted me from Indianapolis Animal Control and Services. I was adopted with another kitten, but we never became friends. I felt so jealous when our owner paid attention to him. Our owner has done everything she can to make me less nervous, but I am a hard nut to crack. The ironic thing is, I crave love and attention and cannot get enough pets and cuddles. My theory is I need a fresh start with a very patient cat lover who understands cat anxiety. Since being surrendered on March 19, I have tended to stay in my Kitty Kasa, behind a pillow, hiding from the world. Obviously, the problem is that no one can see me, and no one knows how sweet-natured and affectionate I am. The interviewer lady (IL) was surprised to learn that I am such a loveable cat since I was always out of sight. When she took the pillow away from my Kasa, I sniffed her hand, and I came out to receive her pets. She spent a long time rubbing my neck, scratching my chin, and scratching my ears. I leaned into her to let her know I was enjoying her attention. I am a shiny, solid black cat with a tiny splotch of white on my chest. The IL told me my coat was very soft. According to my owner, I am very tolerant of her 10-year-old daughter, playing with her and letting her pet me. My favorite things are: being petted and brushed, cotton-ball toys I can carry around, and using a scratching post to keep my nails in good condition. I am not enticed to indulge in catnip as it has no effect on my mood. The place I felt happiest in my former home was the basement, where I had everything I needed. Having a safe spot helped to control my stress level. The medical staff has recommended that I take a medication to help me feel calm and relaxed, as well as Hill's C/D Multicare Stress food. They will provide you with ways to make my transition to your home successful. If you empathize with my nervous Nelly personality, you might be just the person to build my self-confidence and contentment. 4-8-26
Important Notice: A “meet and greet” with any existing dogs in your home is required, supervised by our team in our play areas. We encourage bringing your family and current dogs, especially if traveling from afar. Cats are not required for a meet and greet.
Adoption Hours: Daily 12-5PM, closed Wednesdays. No appointment needed, unless the dog or cat is in foster! Apply and then call us at 317-773-4974 to set up a meet and greet with an pet in foster care.
Dog Adoption Fees:
- Under 1 year: $200
- 1-4 years: $100
- 5-9 years: $55
- 10+ years: $35
*The non-refundable hold fee is $40.

Cat Adoption Fees:
- Under 1 year: $100
- 1-4 years: $65
- 5-9 years: $35
- 10+ years: $25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
