My name is Samantha, but my friends call me Sammy. February was truly hard for me, as I lost my beloved lifelong owner. With no one able to care for me, I found myself at the animal hospital for two weeks, feeling lost and unsure of what would come next. Thankfully, HSHC welcomed me with open arms. I'm a five-year-old brown DSH tabby-already spayed, always tidy in the litter box, and tipping the scales at 14 pounds. These are the facts, but there's so much more to me! I haven't met very many new people, so I'm still learning to feel safe. When I get nervous, I might hiss, swat, or try to get away, but I calm down when I'm handled gently. In my foster home, I blossomed. Bit by bit, I grew brave enough to seek out pets and affection, eventually loving the gentle touch of my foster family. I watched the world from my cat shelf, but soon enough, I found the courage to explore and connect. As my confidence grew, so did my appetite for food and for friendship. When I returned to HSHC, I joined the Roaming Room with other cats. I still get nervous around strangers, but I'm warming up to everyone I see often. The kind folks at HSHC have a plan to help me settle into your home, too. I just need a patient, loving person who understands that big changes can be a little scary-but also the start of something wonderful. 4-4-26
Important Notice: A “meet and greet” with any existing dogs in your home is required, supervised by our team in our play areas. We encourage bringing your family and current dogs, especially if traveling from afar. Cats are not required for a meet and greet.
Adoption Hours: Daily 12-5PM, closed Wednesdays. No appointment needed, unless the dog or cat is in foster! Apply and then call us at 317-773-4974 to set up a meet and greet with an pet in foster care.
Dog Adoption Fees:
- Under 1 year: $200
- 1-4 years: $100
- 5-9 years: $55
- 10+ years: $35
*The non-refundable hold fee is $40.
Included with Dog Adoptions:
- Heartworm Test (age appropriate)
- At least one round of age appropriate vaccinations
- At least one round of flea/tick preventative
- Complimentary Bag of Food
- Complimentary Wellness Exam & Rabies Vaccine
Cat Adoption Fees:
- Under 1 year: $100
- 1-4 years: $65
- 5-9 years: $35
- 10+ years: $25
Included with Cat Adoptions:
- Feline Leukemia/FIV Test (age appropriate)
- At least one round of age appropriate vaccinations
- At least one round of flea/tick preventative
- Complimentary Bag of Food
- Complimentary Wellness Exam & Rabies Vaccine

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
