I have lived with my owner for five years, and I don't remember who I lived with before that. I am now 8-years-old, and weigh only 7 pounds. Due to my owner's failing health, I am living in the cattery of HSHC. I moved in on February 26, so I am still unsure about what to expect. Through the feline grapevine, I've learned that I am in the market for a new, forever owner. I appreciate the accommodations I've been given, and I enjoy the staff and volunteers coming in to entertain me. But I found that medical examination to be terrifying, and I let them know I was not a happy camper! That's when I found out I had severe gingivitis, and I was given medicine to help fight the infection. I am much improved now, and even though I'm missing some teeth, I have no problem eating my meals. I am a DLH female cat with a black coat and golden eyes. Now that I've had a little time to get my bearings, I realize the people here are just trying to take care of me and find me a new home. When the interviewer lady (IL) paid me a call, I was feeling very friendly, and I let her pet me all over. I flopped onto my side to make it easier for her to give me a massage. Of course, I began to purr so she knew I was enjoying myself. Because my owner was unable to give the shelter my history, no one knows much about me. The IL told me I am a beautiful girl, but my coat has been neglected. Long-haired cats do need regular brushing to prevent painful mats. As much as I like being petted, I know I would feel good about having someone brush me. As much as I loved being cuddled by the IL, I know that I am more than ready to find my forever person who will love me and care for me for the rest of my life. Please consider making me your new companion. 3-17-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?
You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
