Description Super Nova (at Smitten Kitten)
Super Nova
A supernova is the extremely bright, super-powerful explosion of a star. How I got my name is anyone's guess. I sure don't feel very powerful! I am a 2-year-old grey and buff short-haired female Tabby cat. I weigh only 7.9 pounds, and I've been told I am a pretty cat. My owner, of only two months, surrendered me to HSHC due to having too many animals. I must have been an orphaned kitten because I am not a confident, well-socialized kitty. Being a stray made me sensitive to quick movements and loud noises. I was also not used to having food just given to me. In short, I was a fearful, nervous cat who had no experience being a treasured pet. When I got to the shelter, I was utterly confused and stressed about being in a cage. With TLC, the Feline Care Specialists were able to build my trust and confidence, allowing people to touch me, and I realized I was in a good spot. I am still shy and hesitant to interact, but if you don't "come on too strong", I accept gentle pets and chin rubs. Today, the interviewer lady (IL) came to see me in the Roaming Room, where I was sunbathing on top of a climber. I was comfortable enough to allow her to touch me. I even rolled onto my side, making biscuits and drooling to show my ease with her. The HSHC staff feels that I would benefit from a very gradual introduction to my new adoptive home. Providing me with a small space that has everything I need will allow me to relax and adjust to all the changes. Daily interactive play sessions with you and feathered toys on a wand or fishing pole, felt mice, and laser pointers that I can chase and catch, will help expend any stress I have. I know that with the right activities and support, I will become a beloved member of the family. 10-21-25

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
