Description Safira
Safira's Compatibility:
Dogs: Meet & Greet
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Best with calm, dog-savvy teens

Safira is a smart, toy-loving girl with a big heart and an even bigger potential for love-she just needs someone willing to go at her pace. She's housebroken, crate-trained, and knows a bunch of cues in both English and Spanish (including "sit," "down," "paw," and "go to bed"). She's especially fond of squeaky toys and will light up when it's time to play.

Safira has done well with other dogs and enjoys calm companionship, especially when mealtimes and toys are managed separately. She's respectful and responsive in the home and settles beautifully once she's comfortable.

When it comes to new people, Safira just needs a little more time. She can be shy or uncertain at first-especially in unfamiliar places or with strangers-but once you've earned her trust, she's affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. At the shelter, she's made wonderful progress with staff and volunteers who've taken the time to get to know her.

Because of her sensitivity to new people and situations, Safira is looking for a home without young children-teens 16+ who can respect her space would be best. She'll thrive in a calm, consistent environment with routines and slow introductions to new experiences. If you're open to taking things one step at a time, Safira is more than willing to meet you halfway.

She may need a little extra patience, but what you get in return is something special-a dog who chooses you, trusts you, and is so deeply grateful for a second chance. If you're the kind of person who celebrates the quiet victories, come meet Safira. She just might be the one you've been waiting for.

Important Notice: A “meet and greet” with any existing dogs in your home is required, supervised by our team in our play areas. We encourage bringing your family and current dogs, especially if traveling from afar. Cats are not required for a meet and greet.

Adoption Hours: Daily 12-5PM, closed Wednesdays. No appointment needed, unless the dog or cat is in foster! Apply and then call us at 317-773-4974 to set up a meet and greet with an pet in foster care.

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
