"She is such a good dog and has obviously been trained at some point in her past. I wish she could talk and tell us how she became a stray!" -Misty's foster

Misty showed up at our shelter last August as a stray, unsure of where she was or what to expect. She was carrying a little extra weight and a whole lot of uncertainty. But as the weeks went on, she started to trust, settle in, and show us just how special she really is.

Now that she's in a foster home, the rave reviews are rolling in. Misty is house trained, crate trained, and has wonderful house manners. She doesn't get on the furniture, doesn't chew things she shouldn't, and she settles quietly in her crate overnight or when left home alone. Her foster says it's clear she's had some training in her past, and it really shows.

She's been working hard on her fitness and is looking fantastic at 62 pounds. Misty enjoys her daily walks, walks nicely on leash after a few excited steps, and loves being outside. She's very treat-motivated, already knows "sit," and is eager to learn more.

Toys are her absolute favorite thing. Especially stuffies. She'll proudly bring them to you to play and carry them around like a prized possession. More than anything, Misty loves being near her people. She's sweet, gentle, and happiest when she's close.

Misty would do best in a cat-free home with kids 12 and up. She may be open to a dog friend with a slow, thoughtful introduction.

She's been overlooked for far too long, but her perfect match is out there. Misty has so much love to give and is more than ready to start her next chapter. Come meet her and see for yourself. She's ready to go home!

Important Notice: A “meet and greet” with any existing dogs in your home is required, supervised by our team in our play areas. We encourage bringing your family and current dogs, especially if traveling from afar. Cats are not required for a meet and greet.

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
