Description Envy
Envy
I heard someone say she was "green with envy," and I thought they were talking about me. I have lovely green eyes, and my name is Envy. But I was mistaken. I was 1-year-old in 2023, when I was surrendered to the HSHC due to allergies in the family. Eight days later, I was adopted and lived with this family for three years. I have always been a gentle, quiet, somewhat timid girl, and the older female resident cat took an immediate dislike to me. She did not want to share the home with me and would routinely initiate conflict with me. I am a lover, not a fighter, so I would try to scurry away and hide. You may already know that cats do not do well in stressful situations, and this other cat gave me plenty to stress about. I sustained minor injuries, such as scratches or patches of fur being pulled out. If you've ever been bullied, you'll understand what I went through. My owner had to keep us in separate parts of the house to be sure I'd be safe. If my next home has other furry family members, I will need a very gradual introduction to them, even if they are friendly. I am now a 3-year-old who is still a gentle, timid, and affectionate girl. My last owner was very busy, and I was usually alone most of the day. Contrary to what you might think, cats actually require social interactions with their humans to receive affection and playful stimulation. I crave loving attention, so when the interviewer lady (IL) visited me, I gave her head butts, put my head into her hand, lay on my side so she could pet me all over, and turned my purr engine on to HIGH. I was sad when she had to go visit other cats. If you'd like to change my life and offer me a loving home, I will be forever grateful. 3-31-26

Not Quite Ready To Adopt?

You can make an immeasurable impact by opening your home and your heart to an animal in need. Fostering is a great opportunity to introduce a pet into your home without making a lifelong commitment. Many of our foster humans end up adopting their fostered animals, but many also choose to just provide the temporary shelter and love our animals need to get through a trying time.
